London Road & Walpole Road, Halesworth – Surface Dressing – August 2019
SCC Highways will be carrying out surface dressing at the following locations. This is necessary to stop further deterioration and improve the road surface.
Phase 1: A144 London Road, Halesworth – from Saxons Way Roundabout to Bramfield Road
Phase 2: B1117 Walpole Road, Halesworth – from Bramfield Road to outside Black House
The surface dressing is planned to take place overnight between 5th August and 10th August 2019
during the hours of 8pm and 5am. This is to minimise disruption to the travelling public during the
morning and afternoon rush hour. Phase 2 will start on completion of Phase 1.

As surface dressing is weather dependant a further notification leaflet will be dropped to residents
prior to works starting at each location. The leaflet will confirm the exact start date in the period stated
so that vehicles can be moved from the carriageway in advance. It will also provide more information
about how the works will be carried out.
On-street parking will be unavailable 8pm to 5am on each night of the works. Please
find an alternative place to park during this time or the evening before works begin
The roads will be temporarily closed to through traffic for the duration of the works. Access to
properties and businesses will be available but controlled by staff on site. Please speak to one of
our staff who will provide access as soon as it is safe to do so. Access for emergency services will
be maintained at all times.
During the period of the closure, traffic will be diverted via:
Phase 1: Sparrowhawk Road, B1124, A145, A12 and vice versa
Phase 2: B1116, B1123, A144 and vice versa
These temporary traffic management measures are required to allow the works to be carried out safely
and in accordance with current health and safety guidelines. Please see the information over the page
for more details of how access to your property will be affected by the works, as well as other
frequently asked questions.
If you have any other questions about the work, please call us on 0345 606 6171.
Once we have completed the works, it would be helpful if you could take a few moments to complete
a short survey at www.suffolk.gov.uk/suffolk-highways-survey. Your answers will help us improve our
service in the future.
