Museum Award Success

The Town Council would like to congratulate Halesworth & District Museum in their success at the recent Association of Suffolk Museums Awards!

Halesworth's fantastic museum took home two awards 'Object of the Year' for the Blythburgh Coin which was voted for by the public and the 'Working with Young People' award.

The museum was also runner up in the Museum of the Year.

You don't really need a reason to visit this gem of a museum located in the town's railway station building but it's now award winning!

Queen Elizabeth II 1926 - 2022

As we learn of the sad news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away the thoughts of the Town Councillors of Halesworth are with the Royal Family as they grieve for their Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. The Queen demonstrated extraordinary dedication and commitment to duty throughout her Reign and did so with a graceful strength and admirable determination. She ruled throughout decades of change, from the dark post war years through to the new horizons of the 21st Century, providing essential continuity for the nation. This is a period of public grief when people who do not know each other come together to mourn a national figure who has been consistent throughout our lives and for whom we have collective affection despite not knowing her personally.

Members of the public are permitted to lay flowers or tributes at the Arboretum/War Memorial - please remove plastic wrappings before doing so.

Halesworth Day of Dance

Halesworth Town Council would like to congratulate everyone involved with the Halesworth Day of Dance held on Saturday the 2nd April, 2022 and also the Halesworth Twinning Association for their hospitality and assistance in welcoming our friends from our twin town, Eitorf, Germany. The Chair, Cllr Rosemary Lewis, opened the event in the Market Place on a cold but beautifully sunny day and the town was treated to a wonderful display of colours and costumes. This year the town welcomed for the first time; the energetic and flamboyant Eitorf dance troop, KG Närrische Stadtsoldaten Eitorf e.V. von 1912, joining around 30 dance groups who entertained the town throughout the day, culminating in a folk dance at the Holton Village Hall.
